Back to News Far’ain Jaafar: Finalist for the Leadership in Care Award 2 September 2025 News Story Topics Care Women's Leadership Awards We are delighted to announce Far’ain Jaafar from Singapore, as a finalist for the 2025 Wedu Women’s Leadership Awards in the Leadership in Care Award category. Far’ain Jaafar’s caregiving journey spans many roles—mother, foster parent, counsellor, and advocate—all rooted in compassion, resilience, and the belief that care is a form of leadership. Connection to the Leadership in Care Award Far’ain embodies the essence of this award by showing that leadership is inseparable from care. Her work as a mother to a neurodivergent child, foster parent, and community advocate demonstrates that guiding, protecting, and empowering others is a powerful form of leadership that transforms lives and communities. Mobilising Change Navigating education and healthcare systems that often overlook neurodivergence, Far’ain became a steadfast advocate and educator, balancing therapy plans, school support, and the unseen labour of creating safe spaces for her child. Beyond her own family, she has welcomed children from challenging circumstances into her home as a foster parent, offering stability, love, and the opportunity to heal. Her impact extends further as a breastfeeding counsellor with the Breastfeeding Mothers’ Support Group (Singapore) since 2017, supporting hundreds of mothers through one of life’s most vulnerable transitions. Now as Vice-President, she co-leads efforts around equity and inclusion, trains new counsellors, and ensures diverse voices are heard in parenting and caregiving spaces. Why Far’ain Stands Out Far’ain’s leadership is defined by its reach and depth. She builds a kinder, more inclusive society through the everyday acts of care she offers—supporting new mothers, advocating for neurodivergent children, and creating safe, loving homes for foster children. Her work is both personal and far-reaching, inspiring communities and giving others the confidence to share their own stories. Equally, she models sustainability in caregiving, nurturing her own resilience through prayer, quiet moments with her children, walks in nature, and support from her network of friends, mentors, and fellow caregivers. Far’ain Jaafar’s story reminds us that caregiving is transformative. It affirms identity, dismantles barriers, and shapes a kinder future—showing that care is not only what we give, but how we lead.
